Rs 161 crore allocated for Buffalo scheme: Talasani

Hyderabad: The Government has offered Rs 161 cr into the accounts of collectors of 28 districts to implement the program of distributing buffalos and cows among the members of five state dairies.

This was informed by Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav here after a review meeting with Vijaya Dairy Chairman L Bhuma Reddy, MD Venkateshwarlu, Secretary Sandip Kumar, Mulkanur Dairy President G Vijaya and delegates of other dairies and officials concerned at Secretariat here. On the occasion the minister asked them to see that the beneficiaries get the buffalos and cows of their choice and make the program a success.

The minister said that 2.13 lakh members of the dairies will benefit from the scheme and sought steps for insurance tag to the animals after purchase. The officials were instructed to make arrangements for purchase of the buffalos and cows for those who have shared their contribution and taking subsidy amount from the government. The beneficiaries offered their share of amount include 4387 in Vijaya Dairy, 487 in Karimnagar Dairy and 160 in Mulkanur Dairy. Record the details in the mobile application including the beneficiary photo and that of the animals, place of purchase and insurance tags he said. The collectors will give funds for purchasing them.

Dairies concerned will get Rs 5000 per buffalo towards transportation and 300 kg fodder will be given for three months. Fodder for the purpose is manufactured in a Feed Mixing Plant in Gadwal. He also instructed the dairies which have received share from beneficiaries, to deposit the amounts into the accounts of the collectors in the districts. (NSS)
