Saudi Women Ride Toward Freedom with Sisterhood Motorcycle Club

A growing number of young Saudi women are taking to the streets of Riyadh on motorcycles, embracing a new sense of freedom and breaking traditional gender norms.

Leading this change is the Sisterhood Motorcycle Club, founded in 2022 by Capt. Saud Albarak and Roaa Talal Abualsaud. The club was created to offer a safe and welcoming space for women who are passionate about motorcycling.

The club is open to all women, regardless of experience. Members are not required to own a motorcycle or have a license to join. Beginners are offered training, safety guidance, and mentorship, making it easier for women to get involved.

For many members, motorcycles represent more than just transportation. Riding offers a sense of independence, adventure, and personal freedom. The club provides an opportunity for women to explore new experiences while being part of a supportive and empowering community.

The Sisterhood Motorcycle Club currently has 260 active members and has organized more than 40 rides across cities in Saudi Arabia. It also collaborates with female riders from other Gulf countries, helping the community grow beyond national borders.

In addition to rides, the club hosts safety workshops, community outreach events, off-road trips, fitness activities, and lifestyle gatherings. These activities help members stay connected, active, and confident.

The club is also helping challenge stereotypes by making female riders more visible in public spaces. Its growing presence is inspiring other women to follow their passions without fear or limitations.

By riding together and supporting one another, the women of the Sisterhood Motorcycle Club are creating a powerful movement that celebrates strength, unity, and change in Saudi Arabia.
