School students attend Gandhi Movie screenings in Hyderabad

As a means of instilling patriotism in the minds of school students, the Telangana government has sponsored free screenings of the movie Gandhi.

There are several multiplexes showing the Mahatma Gandhi biopic, including Inox, GVK, and AMB, as well as single screens in Attapur, Balanagar, and Amberpet. A diverse group of students from public and private schools attended the screening.

The film was screened on Wednesday at the Vimal theatre in Balanagar, students and teachers from St. Andrews and IDPL schools went and watched the movie. According to the students, the film made the students more knowledgeable about Gandhi’s life and provided them with a better understanding of his principles and journey.

Across the state, 552 theatres are showing the film Gandhi, directed by Richard Attenborough. About 22 lakh schoolchildren are expected to see the film in theaters, according to officials.

This 1982 British-Indian historical film tells the story of Mahatma Gandhi and his struggle to gain Indian independence through nonviolent civil disobedience. A total of eight Academy Awards were won for the film, including the best picture award, and five Golden Globes were won, including the foreign film award. The film won four additional BAFTA awards, including the best film at the BAFTA ceremony.

Mahatma (“Great Soul”) was Gandhi’s title among millions of Indians. Along the route of his tours, he had to deal with the unthinking adoration of huge crowds; he could barely work during the day or rest at night because of their unrelenting adoration.

His fame spread throughout the world during his lifetime and only increased after his death as he wrote, “The woes of the Mahatmas are known only to the Mahatmas.” He is now one of the most widely recognized people in the world.
