The Madras High Court has directed all the petitioners in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) case. They said that they would be hearing their petitions in the afternoon session July 13.
BJP’s Tamil Nadu State Secretary Challenges Committee To Study NEET’s Impact on the State
Additional Solicitor General R. Sankaranarayanan informed the bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy that the Centre would file its counter-affidavit by the end of the day or on Tuesday morning to a case filed by the BJP’s Tamil Nadu state Secretary, K. Nagarajan. He had challenged the constitution of a committee headed by Justice (Rtd) A.K. Rajan to study the NEET’s impact on the state.
The state government had constituted the committee in June. Sankaranarayanan said that he would serve the copies of the counter-affidavit to the writ petitioner along with the numerous political parties, organisations and individuals who wanted to be impleaded in the case.

The court had ordered the Centre to file their counter affidavit to be filed by July 8 and serve on the counsel of DK, the DMK, the MDMK, the CPI, and others who wanted to implead in the case.
Senior Lawyers Informs “Nothing New” With The Constitution of the Committee
Senior lawyer P. Wilson who represents the students who sought the case to be impleaded said that there is “nothing new” in the constitution of the committee. He said that the committee under Justice P. Kalaiyarasan’s recommendations resulted in 7.5 percent reservation for the medical admission to the government school students.

Advocate V. Raghavachar who appeared for the petitioner Nagarajan, countered Wilson’s argument. He said that there is all petitions regarding NEET were dismissed by the Supreme Court. He further added that the resistance to NEET is only from Tamil Nadu.
“It’s a political game and it must end,” said Raghavachar.
