Social Activist Killed After Exposing Constable’s Illicit Affair

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of social activist Chidem Sai Prakash has come to a heartbreaking end, as the Hanamkonda police recovered his body from a well near Husnabad on the outskirts of Warangal. Investigations revealed that an illicit affair involving a suspended constable was at the heart of the brutal murder.

Sai Prakash, a 38-year-old resident of Venkatapuram mandal in Mulugu district, was the founder of Cheyutha, a non-profit organisation known for its work in social justice and community development. He went missing on April 15 after visiting Hanamkonda to admit his relatives to a private hospital. After completing the hospital formalities, he left for home but never arrived.

Concerned by his absence, his younger brother Sai Teja lodged a missing person complaint at the Hanumakonda Police Station on April 18. Acting swiftly, the police launched an investigation using CCTV footage, which showed a suspicious auto following Sai Prakash’s vehicle.

Based on the auto rickshaw number, the police detained several suspects who, under interrogation, confessed to murdering Sai Prakash. The accused admitted to dumping his body in a well near Husnabad. Following this information, police retrieved the decomposed body and sent it to Warangal MGM Hospital for post-mortem examination.

According to police sources, the motive behind the murder of Sai Prakash was linked to his role in exposing an illicit relationship between Constable Srinivas and a woman from Venkatapuram, who was reportedly a relative of Sai Prakash. After the affair came to light, Constable Srinivas was suspended by police authorities, leading to a grudge that turned into a deadly vendetta.

The Hanamkonda murder case has sent shockwaves across Mulugu district, where Sai Prakash was known for his active involvement in raising awareness against social evils and corruption. Locals have demanded stringent punishment for all those involved in the premeditated killing.

Police have confirmed that Constable Srinivas and five others have been arrested in connection with the murder, and further investigations are underway to determine the full scope of the conspiracy.
