Speed Up Dalit Bandhu with MLAs: Chief Secretary to Collectors

Telangana State Government today directed the collectors and officials concerned to speed up implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme for SCs empowerment.

The government has released Rs 100 cr out of Rs 1200 crore allocated for the scheme of Dalit Bandhu in all 118 segments.

The government is to implementing the scheme in 118 Assembly segments and select 100 families each for the purpose through local MLAs and Ministers, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said. Each family is a unit and 100 families are to be selected for Dalit Bandhu scheme implementation with Rs 10 lakh financial assistance.

Somesh Kumar held a video conference with the collectors and officials to implement the scheme. From Karim Nagar district SC Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar and collectors from districts participated in the meeting. The CS said that the scheme is to empower the SC community in the state.

The state government has taken up the Dalit Bandhu scheme and allocated Rs 1200 cr in this budget he said. Out of this we have released Rs 100 crore for the purpose, the chief secretary said. The government adopted Vasalamarri village in Bhuvangiri Yadadri district.

 In addition, four villages on four sides of the state were taken up for implementing the scheme. In four of the mandals 100 families of the Dalit community will be selected for the scheme. On a pilot basis, the amount of Rs 10 lakh will be given to them and implement the scheme across the state in a phased manner. The chief secretary asked the collectors and officials to coordinate to select the beneficiaries. Through local MLAs, the collectors have to get approvals from the ministers concerned for offering the benefits to the SCs in four mandals, he said. The government offers Rs 10 lakh to each of the Dalit families as per norms and they can get the business of their choice, the CS said.  Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has adopted the Huzurabad segment to implement the scheme.

In addition to that the government selected four other mandals in the state for the scheme, he said. The four mandals selected for the scheme included Chinthakani in Khammam district, Charagonda in Nagar Kurnool district, Tirumalagiri in Suryapet, and Nizamsagar in Kamareddy districts respectively.

 The CS instructed the collectors and officials to speed up the process of selecting the SC beneficiaries under the scheme. The funds are available for the scheme to be selected in coordination with the MLAs concerned and approval from the ministers from those districts, he said. Somesh Kumar said that Rs 10000 have to be deducted from each Dalit Beneficiary towards Dalitbandhu Protection Funds.
