Rising Telugu actress Sreeleela is all set to make her mark in Bollywood with back-to-back big projects. While she is currently filming her Hindi debut opposite Kartik Aaryan in an untitled musical directed by Anurag Basu, new reports suggest she has bagged yet another major Hindi film—Karan Johar’s much-awaited Dostana 2.
The sequel to the 2008 hit Dostana was initially announced with Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. However, both actors are no longer part of the project. While Kartik moved on to other ventures, Janhvi Kapoor has reportedly been replaced by Sreeleela, according to sources familiar with the development.
Interestingly, Dostana 2 will now star Lakshya in the male lead. Lakshya, who was originally supposed to debut with this film, ended up making his debut in Kill, which premiered directly on OTT platforms last year. The sequel is being revived with a fresh cast and a new director, Advait Chandan, who previously helmed Secret Superstar.

Sreeleela’s growing popularity among Hindi filmmakers is partly credited to her recent special number in Pushpa 2, which created quite a buzz in Bollywood circles. Industry insiders say that this visibility helped her get noticed by top production houses, leading to her casting in Dostana 2.
Meanwhile, the rumour mill is abuzz with speculation about Sreeleela and Kartik Aaryan’s alleged off-screen chemistry. While there has been no official confirmation about the duo dating, their increasing closeness during the shoot of Anurag Basu’s film has caught the attention of Bollywood media.
If these reports hold true, Dostana 2 could mark a significant turning point in Sreeleela’s career as she expands her fanbase across India.
