Sri Lanka invites indian fishermen for yearly church feast

As per the latest update, Sri Lanka’s Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda invites fishermen from Tamil Nadu to for yearly church feast at the Kachchatheevu Island, adding that he would address the government and make plans to oblige the Indian enthusiasts to go to the dining experience.

Church Feast To Better Relationships

“In the background of continuous stressed connection between the Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen, the Fisheries Minister is on the assessment that it would be great to permit the fishermen from the two parties to join the church feast,” Devananda’s media representative Nelson Edirisinghe informed media.

“This would be a decent gathering point for the two parties,” he said. Fishermen from northern Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu have been blaming each other for poaching in their regions. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sri Lankan healthcare specialists, the Catholic Church and government authorities on January 30 chose to have the church feast without Indian enthusiasts. Jaishankar to ask the island’s administration to empower the support of the enthusiasts in the yearly dining experience of St Anthony’s Church in Katchatheevu.

Tamil Nadu Government Supports Feast

In a letter to Jaishankar, Stalin mentioned the Center to mediate in the issue.
