Statue of Equality open for visitors for free

According to the latest reports, people can visit the Statue of Equality for free from today.

Devotees around the country can now have a free darshan of Saint Ramanuja Chary monument (Statue of Equality) as the Samathamurthy Sahasrabdi celebrations come to an end.

“From February 16 to 19, people can have a darshan of Samathamurthy and 108 shrines from 3 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.,” the organisers added. They further stated that access to Ramanuja Chary’s golden is currently restricted.

“Due to technological difficulties, 3D mapping is also on hold. Soon, the public will be able to see the 3D laser display and the golden statue “they stated.

The ticket pricing for Samathamurthy darshan will be decided soon, according to the organizers.

The 12-day sahasrabdi celebrations of the Saint Ramanujacharya started at Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy ashram in Muchintal village near Shamshabad.

As a part of the celebrations, homams were held at 128 Yagashalas and nearly 5,000 Veda pundits or rithwiks recited Vedas. About 2 lakh kilogrammes of cow ghee was obtained from various states.

The celebrations have been conducted in a grand manner and many notable individuals showed up at the ashram after the inauguration of the 216-foot statue of Ramanujacharya that was termed as ‘Statue of Equality’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the 216-foot tall ‘Statue of Equality,’ which commemorates the 11th-century Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya in Hyderabad’s Shamshabad. Sri Ramanujacharya dedicated his life to the upliftment of people, believing that everyone is equal regardless of nationality, gender, colour, creed or caste.

Gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc make up the statue’s “panchaloha” (five metals).  At 216 feet, It is one of the world’s tallest metallic statues constructed in a sitting position.

On the outskirts of Hyderabad, the Statue Of Equality is located in a 45-acre complex.
