Sushma Swaraj launches Passport Seva app

New Delhi:Passport Seva app has been launched by the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, makintg the process for obtaining a passport much easier.

Sushma Swaraj says that the newly launched app is to overcome the difficulties faced by the citizens of India in making the passport. Passport application from anywhere in India and filling passport application forms from mobile phones would now make the procedure for obtaining passports simpler.

This simplified passport obtaining system is helpful to the hundred of citizens who are willing to undertake the Haj Pilgrimage. The decision regarding the quota and eligibility regarding the annual Haj pilgrimage is taken by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, the issuance of passport still remains with the External Affairs Ministry.

In the first two phases, announcement has been made for 251 passport registration centres out of which 212 centres are already established. In the third phase, 38 additional centres will be announced out of which two centres have been operationalised.

Currently there are 260 working passport centres, which will be expanded to all Lok Sabha constituencies in the future says Sushma Swaraj.

Besides the “Passport Revolution”,a meeting was also held in the discussion between Women and Child Development Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs during which the steps that needed to be taken for hassle-free issuance of passport and making the application form more citizen-friendly were discussed.
