Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhaskar reply to Kangana’s “needy outsiders”, “B-grade actresses” remarks

With Kangana coming forward to become the face of “boycotting nepotism in Bollywood”, her cold remarks on Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhaskar have gained her a lot of criticism.

Boiling tensions between the actresses transformed into fallout when Kangana dismissed her associates calling them “needy outsiders” and “B-grade actresses” at an interview with Arnab Goswami telecasted on his news channel.

The 33-year-old actress’s rude comments did not go well with her colleagues and many journalists who called her out for it.

While Swara Bhaskar took to twitter to speak about the remarks, Taapsee Pannu had a chat with Hindustan Times where she referred to them as “disheartening.” Social media was quick to take sides with the hashtag ‘NationStandsWithKangana’ trending on Twitter. Support for Taapsee and Swara started getting showered by many other users, private journalists and a few Bollywood associates.

Kangana had joined the chatshow to talk about the raging nepotism in the industry which gained a fast-track after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death last month, allegedly due to Bollywood’s pumped up nepotism.

“I only have to lose here, because tomorrow they (referring to the ‘movie mafia’) will get some 20 needy outsiders like Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhasker who will say ‘oh only Kangana has a problem with Karan Johar, but we love Karan Johar.’ If you love Karan Johar, why are you both B-grade actresses? You are better looking than Alia Bhatt and Ananya, you both are better actresses, why don’t you get work? Your existence is a proof of nepotism. What are you telling me how happy you are with this industry?” Kangana said in her interview.

Reacting to the brutal comments, Swara Bhaskar tweeted a rather sarcastic reply saying, “-Needy outsider, – B grade actress (But) – better looking & better actor than Alia Bhatt & Ananya! Net net I think this was a compliment! Thanks Kangana! I think u are gorgeous, generous & a great actor! #KanganaSpeaksToArnab #Nepotism @KanganaTeam”

While Taapsee Pannu said, “Maine suna class 12th n 10th ke result ke baad humaara result bhi aa gaya hai! Humaara grade system ab official hai ? Abhi tak toh number system pe value decide hoti thi na? (I’ve heard that our results have also been declared after classes 10th and 12th. Has our grade system got official now? Number system used to be the basis for deciding a person’s value, right?  #MaLifeMaRulesMaShitMaPot”

Taapsee Pannu Swara Bhaskar to Kangana

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Taapsee said, “It’s disheartening to see someone making a mockery out of outsiders and the industry that has given us so much. Imagine the parents whose kids are coming into the industry. What will they think of us? Like we are some nasty evil people sitting here to eat outsiders?”

Supporting Swara’s tweet, director Anubhav Sinha said, “When you talk like that you are D-grading yourself,” making a mockery and extending the wire of sarcastic comments towards Kangana.

Taapsee Pannu Swara Bhaskar to Kangana

Taapsee and Kangana’s feud goes back to the times when the latter’s film ‘Judgmental hai kya’ had released in theatres. Taapsee, in an attempt to merely praise the movie was backlashed with comments like “sasti copy” from Rangoli Chandel, Kangana’s sister when she forgot to mention Kangana’s name in her tweet. When Anurag Kashyap told her that she was “going too far, this is really, really desperate” and that “praising the trailer means praising all aspects of it,” Rangoli attacked the filmmaker as well along with calling Taapsee a “sasti copy” (fake copy) of her sister.
