Taliban Announces 3 Days Ceasefire Ahead of Eid-al-Fitr

The Taliban militant has recently announced a ceasefire with the Afghan government during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday for three days.

Taliban Spokesman Takes To Twitter To Announce Ceasefire

As per the latest reports, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid took to twitter to announce the news. He said that in order to provide a peaceful and secure atmosphere for their “compatriots” to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, all Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate are instructed to put a hold on any offensive operations against the enemy across the country from the first till the third day of Eid.

Depending on the sighting of the moon, the first day Eid al-Fitr festival is likely to fall on Thursday this year. Furthermore, the spokesperson has also urged the insurgent fighters to not to enter the areas under the control of the Afghan troops during the ceasefire period. At the same time, the troops must not enter their areas either.

Death Toll Reaches 85 In the Bomb Attack Outside Kabul

Taliban declaring ceasefire comes after the death toll reached 85 during the bomb attack outside a school in Kabul. At the same time, the doctors are taking care of 165 injured victims and the families are searching for their missing children.

Explosions occurred on Saturday shook the neighbourhood of Dasht-e-Barchi which is home to a large committee of Shi’ites from the Hazara ethnic minority. A car bomb was planted in front of the Sayed Al-Shuhada school and two more bombs were exploded when the students rushed out in panic.

Officials said that most of the students who were killed in the incident are school girls. President Ashraf Ghani blamed the Taliban insurgent for the attack but their spokesman has denied the involvement and even condemned the attack.

Reports suggest that the bodies are still being collected from the morgues and the first burials are still being conducted in the west of the city. Mohammed Reza Ali has been helping the families find the victims at a private hospital said that they had spent the entire night carrying the bodies of the children to the graveyard and praying for them.
