Telangana: Assets of BRS increased by over 66 percent during 2021-22

The assets of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which recently renamed itself Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), increased by over 66% during 2021-22.

According to the party’s annual audited accounts and annual report of contributions submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI), its current assets have increased to Rs 480 crore from Rs 288 crore in 2020-21.

During the same time period, the party’s income increased by a significant 480 percent, from Rs 37.65 crore to Rs 218.11 crore.

During 2021-22, the party led by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao earned Rs 153 crore from electoral bonds and another Rs 40 crore from electoral trusts. During the previous year, the party received no income under these two categories.

The annual fee/subscription from members has reduced from Rs 16.70 crore to Rs 7.54 crore. There were no corporate donations or contributions during the year, whereas the party received Rs 3.15 crore from corporations in 2020-21.

In 2021-22, the party spent Rs 7.68 crore on elections, compared to Rs 4.79 crore in 2020-21. The opening balance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022 was Rs 307 crore, up from Rs 292 crore last year.

According to the statement, the party’s balance with scheduled banks for more than a 12-month maturity period was Rs 451 crore in 2021-22, up from Rs 256 crore in 2020-21.

TRS President and Chief Minister KCR stated at the TRS plenary in April that the party was worth Rs 1,000 crore entity which is sufficient enough for him to jump into national politics.

CESS polls

The BRS swept the Cooperative Electric Supply Society (CESS) elections held in Telangana’s Rajanna-Sircilla district by winning 13 of 15 director posts.

The candidates supported by the BRS won all 15 director posts in one of the country’s oldest cooperative societies, defeating the BJP.

While polling for 15 director posts was held on December 24, counting began on Monday. KTR thanked the people of Sircilla for choosing the BRS and stated once more that CESS’s defeat proved that the BJP has no power in Telangana.
