A Superintendent of Police from Telangana’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) has been charged with sexually abusing a female employee of Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL). The victim filed a complaint with Chaitanyapuri Police Station, which is part of the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate in Greater Hyderabad.
According to the complaint, the harassment began two years ago when she met a CID employee at a national level sports tournament at Saroor Nagar Stadium. Since then, the SP has been sending her lewd texts, photos, and videos via WhatsApp. He also asked for an image of her in a saree.
The complainant further claimed that the official asked her to attend a special session taught by him and to meet with him in person to discuss a situation.
In response to the complaint, the police have charged the CID official with sexual harassment under Indian Penal Code Section 354A. The investigation into the issue is currently proceeding in order to bring the accountable party to justice.
