Telangana Congress to Launch “Speak Up Telangana” online Social Media Campaign on July 18

Hyderabad: The Chairman of TPCC COVID 19 task force  Marri Shashidhar Reddy today said that they would launch an online social media campaign’ Speak Up Telangana’ on July 18 of this month to voice the concerns of the people of the state.  He said that task force had taken a decision on the issue during its meeting held through video conference with the help of the Zoom app.

In a statement, he said that the meeting had discussed health and education issues affecting the people of the state in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic. TPCC President and MP N.  Uttam Kumar Reddy attended the meeting, chaired by  Shashidhar Reddy, along with members of the Task Force. He said that Serious concern was expressed about the spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in Telangana and the failure of the state government in tackling it during the meeting and It was felt that Chief Minister KCR disappeared from the scene for about 13 days while terming it as very unfortunate. He said that the disappearance act of the CM had come especially after it was indicated that a cabinet meeting would be held to decide the future course of action in dealing with the pandemic in the light of the Unlock 2.0 guidelines issued by the center and the assessment of the situation.

He also said that the meeting had made it clear that the state government had failed miserably in taking necessary and adequate steps to arrest the spread of coronavirus. ‘There is no credible decision support system in the state with everything centralized with the CM.  With the alarming increase in the spread of the virus and the void created with his absence, people of the state felt let down. A decision was taken to conduct an online social media campaign captioned “#SpeakupTelangana” to voice the concerns of the people of the state about the Covid-19. This will be launched simultaneously on all social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc between 10 am and 5 pm on Saturday (July 18),” he said while adding that other details of the campaign are being worked out.

Reddy said that a decision was also taken to write an open letter to the Chief Minister to convey the comments, observations, and suggestions of the task force to deal with the pandemic.
