Telangana court dismisses plea to cancel BJP President Bandi Sanjay bail

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Karimnagar MP and state BJP president, was denied bail in the Class 10 question paper leak case by a Telangana district court. After hearing arguments from both sides for two days, the court issued its decision on Thursday. The police claimed that Sanjay was breaking his release restrictions, but the court concluded that there was no reason to terminate his bail.

Bandi Sanjay was detained in early April by Warangal police on suspicion of playing a part in the leakage of the Hindi question paper for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) test from a Warangal district examination facility. Police claimed that Sanjay had hatched a plan with other accused to leak the Class 10 question paper.

Bandi Sanjay and nine other accused were charged with violating different provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the TS Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices) Act, and the Information Technology Act. They were charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating, and disseminating any report or statement with the goal to provoke public concern, among other things.

Bandi Sanjay was arrested and escorted to a police station in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district before being transferred to Warangal in the evening. On April 5, he was brought before the First Class Magistrate’s house in Hanamkonda and remanded to judicial detention until April 19. However, under specific conditions, the court granted him release the next day.

Sanjay’s bail was subject to specific restrictions, which the police said he had broken. The police asked the court to terminate his bail because he allegedly violated the requirements. However, the court eventually found in Sanjay’s favour and dismissed the plea.

The leak of Class 10 exam papers has become an ongoing issue in Telangana, with many politicians and activists denouncing the occurrence. The investigation is still underway, and further revelations are likely in the following days.
