Telangana: Man drowns while taking selfie in Dindi project

An incident occurred in Gudlapally, Nalgonda on Sunday when a man drowned while taking a selfie in the Dindi project.

Mahesh, 22, a resident of SR Nagar in Hyderabad, was identified as the victim. Five of his friends and he visited the Srisailam temple. As they were returning home from work on September 10, the incident occurred.

They stopped at the Dindi project to spend some time there. The victim took selfies close to the water before he slipped. Mahesh’s friends called the police, who launched a search operation with the locals and screamed for help.

Divers were brought in to search for Mahesh. Darkness, however, forced the rescue effort to be suspended. A search operation on Sunday led to the discovery of the body, which was sent for autopsy. The body was later handed over to the victim’s family by the police.

Man saved from drowning by Rachakonda traffic police

On Sunday evening, Rachakonda traffic police saved the life of a man about to drown at the Kolanupaka culvert in Alair in Yadadri Bhuvangiri.

Due to heavy water flows on the Kolanupaka culvert, Jula Srikanth (39) of Bachannapet mandal in the Jangaon district fell into the stream on his motorcycle along with his bike.

As soon as they spotted him, traffic police assistant sub-inspector P Veda Vyas, constable Shaik Abdul Kalam, and crane driver Md Hussain rushed to his aid and pulled him out. During his attempt to cross the stretch, Srikanth slipped due to the heavy flow of water and fell into the stream.

To keep himself from getting washed away, he grabbed hold of a big log and a pipeline. As soon as the Rachakonda police shared the video of the rescue operations on social media, it went viral.
