A lightning strike resulted in the death of a man and severe burn injuries to his wife. The incident happened on Tuesday night in Anjaneyapuram village of Yellandu mandal.
Ramulu (52) and Venkatamma (52) were returning home after working in their agriculture field when the incident occurred.
After the lightning strike, Ramulu was rushed to the local primary health center and then to Yellandu Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police reported that Venkatamma was being treated at the Yellandu Government Hospital.
Seven farmers were injured in May by a lightning strike in the villages of Mamidipalli and Kanagaarithi. While the farmers were waiting for their turn to sell their harvest, lightning struck the paddy procurement centers.
Lightning strikes injured Mamidipalli residents Pannala Hanumandlu, Pannala Devi Venkatesh, Annadi Yella Reddy, Maru Mohin Reddy, and Maru Buchimallavva. Dodda Shanthavva and Mokalla Thirupathi Reddy, both Kanagarthi farmers, were injured. They were all taken to private hospitals in Vemulawada.
Anurag Jayanthi, the collector, spoke with the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) and instructed hospital doctors to provide better treatment to farmers.
While rains destroyed large amounts of paddy stored in procurement centers, the homes of Putta Renavva, Mothukupalli Rena, Mothukupalli Balaiah, Adem Narsimha Reddy, and Adem Malla Reddy were also damaged in Kanagarthi.

Two farmers died after being struck by lightning in the Telangana districts of Nalgonda, Siddipet,
Linga Swamy, a farmer from Modinigudem in Nakirekal Mandal in Nalgonda district, and Souda Pochaiah of Narlegandla in Siddipet were killed after being struck by lightning while covering paddy farm produce.
In addition, lightning strikes in the area killed two oxen belonging to a farmer named Errabacha Bikshapathi. According to the farmer, the oxen are worth around Rs 1.5 lakh.
Lightning struck a shepherd’s camp in Balvanthapur, Jagitial district, killing 43 goats and injuring two other people.
