Telangana Minister K T Rama Rao Reviews Double-Bedroom Dignity Housing Program

 Hyderabad: K T Rama Rao (KTR), Telangana’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister, held a high-level review meeting to assess the development of the state’s double-bedroom dignity housing initiative. Several ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and district collectors from Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal attended the meeting in the Telangana State Secretariat.

During the review, KTR revealed that around 11,700 double-bedroom residences had already been assigned in the program’s first phase. Beginning September 21st, the government plans to award an extra 13,300 dignity dwellings.

KTR lauded the scheme, saying Telangana’s double-bedroom housing program is the best in the country. He emphasized that the state government is committed to provide these 560 square foot houses for free to needy people in Hyderabad. The market value of these homes exceeds the government’s building budget of Rs. 9,100 crores.

The minister complimented GHMC staff for their dedication to the ambitious project and emphasized the need of transparency in the allocation process. He underlined that beneficiaries are picked using computer-based drawings in order to ensure transparency.

KTR also issued a warning about potential irregularities, emphasizing that accountability lay with the appropriate authorities. He stated that the Gruhalakshmi program will be implemented shortly and is currently being amended in response to ministerial recommendations.

Furthermore, the government intends to issue precise criteria for notary properties throughout the city. KTR stated that the regularization of housing plots under G.O 58 and 59 had brought relief to city residents.

Concerning the Musi River, the government is correcting encroachments and plans to provide double-bedroom houses to affected poor families.

Overall, KTR stated that numerous welfare programs, including as the construction of two-bedroom houses, plot regularization, and notary assets, have benefitted thousands of people in each assembly district. These projects seek to enhance the living conditions of Hyderabad’s poor inhabitants while also contributing to the state’s development.
