A family hired contract killers in Khammam district for Rs 8 lakhs so they could get rid of their drug-addicted and alcoholic son.
On Monday, the parents, Kshatriya Ram Singh and Rani Bai were arrested and remanded in judicial custody along with four of five alleged killers of 26-year-old Sai Ram, although one killer remains at large. The body was found a day after it was dumped in Suryapet on October 18.
As per Huzurnagar CI Ramalingareddy, the couple sought help from Rani Bai’s brother Satyanarayana to have their son murdered. The murder was carried out by Satyanarayana with the help of R Ravi, D Dharma, P Nagaraju, D Sai, and B Rambabu. The couple paid Rs 1.5 lakh in advance and agreed to pay the balance of Rs 6.5 lakh three days after the murder.
On October 18, Satyanarayana and Ravi took Sai Ram to a temple in Kallepalli to meet the other accused. “All had liquor and after Sai Ram got drunk, he was strangled with a rope,” the police said.

It was reported that the CCTV footage of the family car used in the crime led police to the couple, who never filed a missing person complaint. The parents were later discovered to have driven the same car to the mortuary on October 25 to identify the body of their son.
According to police, Sai Ram used to abuse and beat his parents when they refused to pay for alcohol. According to family members, he was sent to a rehabilitation center in Hyderabad, but it did not help.
The parents, Kshatriya Ram Singh and Rani Bai were fed up with the alcohol consumption habit and harassment of their son which led them to take this drastic step.
