Telangana Prepares 7,900 Pilgrims for Haj

A significant pilgrimage journey awaits as 11,000 individuals prepare to travel from Hyderabad to Saudi Arabia for Haj this year, with 7,900 selected from Telangana alone. The first contingent of pilgrims from Telangana anticipates departing for Madina on May 9th.

Over the weekend, the Telangana Haj Committee initiated the first training session for the pilgrims. Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Advisor to the Telangana government on SC, ST, and Minority affairs, encouraged the pilgrims to seize the opportunity fully and cooperate closely with the authorities to ensure a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage.

“This year, around 11,000 pilgrims will journey from Hyderabad to Madina in Saudi Arabia. While 7,900 pilgrims hail from Telangana and Hyderabad, the remainder comes from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh,” highlighted Shabbir.

He underscored the Telangana government’s dedication to managing logistics for pilgrims from neighboring states, announcing an increased allocation from Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore for Haj preparations. Stressing the importance of quality logistics, Shabbir urged the pilgrims to brace themselves for the challenges ahead, emphasizing patience and preparedness to navigate through the pilgrimage.

“It’s a testament to your determination; out of over 20 crore Muslims in India, only 1,70,000 are selected for the Haj, and you are among them. Seize this opportunity fully, adhere to the rituals meticulously, and extend the same support to your fellow pilgrims,” expressed the advisor.

Syed Omer Jaleel, Telangana Minority Secretary, emphasized the significance of updated travel documents and timely submissions to the Haj Committee. He cautioned against passport validity issues, stressing that passports with less than six months’ validity won’t permit travel. Jaleel emphasized the need for punctual fee payments, highlighting that delays could result in the reassignment of slots.

He further urged pilgrims to prioritize physical fitness, considering the rigorous movement required during Haj rituals. Walking practice was encouraged to mitigate physical challenges, especially during activities like Tawaf, which spans a kilometer.

As the countdown to the pilgrimage begins, Telangana readies its pilgrims for a journey of faith, determination, and spiritual fulfillment.
