Telangana: Provision of Rubath facilities for Haj 2023 pilgrims in the works

Efforts are being made to ensure the availability of Rubath facility in Makkah for Haj 2023 pilgrims from Telangana and the erstwhile state of Hyderabad. While speaking with the Secretary and Trustee of the Nizam Rubath Committee, Chairman Telangana Haj Committee Muhammad Saleem invited consultation on this issue.

Nizam Rubath Committee Trustee Faiz Khan informed Muhammad Salim that he will travel to Saudi Arabia in January to meet with Rubath Supervisor Mr. Hussain Sharif. There will be discussions about providing Rubath facilities for Haj pilgrims.

He stated that the supervisor of Rubath had earlier decided to take a building on rent for Rubath in 2023.

Now that the entry of online applications for the 2023 Haj season will start soon, the Rubath supervisor should notify the Haj Committee of India of the presence of the building to facilitate the arrangements.

It should be noted that the supervisor described Rubath’s arrangements for Haj 2023 as “uncertain” and stated that the building is not available for Rabat due to expansion works around Haram Sharif. During the expansion works, the existing Rubath building was demolished.

According to Muhammad Saleem, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will send a letter to the Saudi government if necessary.

It is also worth mentioning that in a press conference held here, Muhammad Saleem said that the State Haj Committees requested the Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani to reduce the expenditure of the Haj pilgrimage from Rs 4 lakh to between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh during a meeting of the Central Haj Committee on November 12. Irani agreed to consider the request.

“Earlier, each Haji could perform Haj by spending Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh, but since the last few years it has gone up to Rs 4 lakh. The increase in the expenditure is burdening the poor and middle class. Hence, we requested the Centre to reduce it by at least Rs 1 lakh,” Saleem said.
