Telangana gears up early for Assembly polls

Despite the fact that Telangana’s assembly elections are more than a year away, political parties in the state seem to be gearing up for the elections.

The main opposition Congress is set to hold rallies in Warangal and at Hyderabad’s Osmania University, whereas BJP state president Bandi Sanjay, Bahujan Samaj Party’s Dr RS Praveen Kumar, and YSR Telangana Party’s YS Sharmila are already travelling around the state leading yatras.

In their campaign against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi state government, opposition leaders are taking any and all measures possible.

Politicians’ rousing speeches and the large crowds at these events indicate that the state’s political momentum has definitely picked up.

It is interesting to note that many of these opposition leaders have opted for the time-tested method of a padayatra (foot march) to build trust with the people before the next election.
