Several key decisions were made by the Telangana State Cabinet during its meeting on Monday, July 31. The following are some major decisions:
Hyderabad Metro Rail Expansion: The cabinet approved a large plan to expand Hyderabad’s transportation infrastructure at a cost of Rs. 60,000 crore. The expansion comprises the building of a 400-kilometer-long double-decker metro rail connecting Jubilee Bus Stand and Tumukunta, as well as Patny and Kandlakoya. This expansion is expected to take three to five years to complete.
Merger of TSRTC and State Government: The cabinet resolved to merge the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and the state government. TSRTC staff will be considered government employees as a result of this decision, which will benefit 46,000 employees.
The Hakimpet airport : which is now under the control of the Indian Air Force, will be changed into a hybrid type to make it open to the public. In addition, the state cabinet authorized 233 acres of land in Warangal district for a new IAF airstrip.
Eight new medical colleges:The government will create eight additional medical colleges, making Telangana the only Indian state with a medical college in every district. The Telangana Institute of Medical Science and Research (TIMS) hospitals in Hyderabad were also approved by the cabinet. A budget of Rs 1800 crore has been made aside for developing NIMS and boosting its bed capacity to 2000.

Rains Relief: The finance department has been asked to pay Rs 500 crore in emergency aid to restore roads, tanks, and other infrastructure destroyed by heavy rains in the state. The government would pay ex-gratia to the families of approximately 40 people who died in the recent floods.
Beedi Workers Will Be Supported: Beedi workers will be supplied with pensions to secure their support.
New Orphan Policy: To assist children who have lost their parents, a new orphan policy will be implemented, and they will be referred to as “Children of the State.”
Bill Reintroduction: Three legislation previously rejected by the Telangana Governor will be reintroduced in the forthcoming Assembly session on 3rd August.
MLC Nominations: Under the Governor’s quota, the state government opted to submit K. Satyanaranana from the scheduled tribe Erukala community and Prof. Dasoju Srravan, a backward community leader, as MLC candidates.
