Telangana: Three children drown after falling into trench

On Monday, three children died after falling and drowning in a trench filled with water in Telangana’s Rangareddy district.

The accident took place in Shadnagar town when the children, all of whom were under the age of ten, fell into a trench while playing.

As per the reports, the trench was dug in a real estate venture for some construction work, according to police. Due to recent rains, the pit had become flooded. The children drowned after entering the trench to catch fish.

Since they hadn’t been seen in a long time, other kids started looking for them, and after a frantic search, they were discovered drowned in the pit.

Reports said that Akshit Goud, Fareed, and Farheen were identified as the children who passed away. Police responded quickly and shifted the bodies for autopsies. Shadnagar police registered a case and began an investigation.

Prior to this, a man drowned in the Dindi project while taking a selfie in an incident reported from Gudlapally, Nalgonda.

Mahesh, a 22-year-old resident of Hyderabad’s SR Nagar, was identified as the victim. He and five of his friends went to the Srisailam temple. On the evening of September 10, they were returning home when the incident occurred.

The group decided to spend some time at the Dindi project. However, the group went near the water to take selfies when the victim slipped into the water.  Mahesh’s friends screamed for help and called the police, who joined the locals in the search.

Divers were dispatched to look for Mahesh. However, due to darkness, rescue efforts had to be halted. The body was discovered during a search operation on a Sunday and was taken for autopsy. The body was later returned to the victim’s family by the police.
