Telangana Unveils Strategic Plan to Eliminate Potholes Statewide

Telangana’s Roads, Buildings, and Cinematography Minister, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, announced a strategic initiative to make the state’s roads pothole-free, marking a significant step in the government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure. Speaking at an event in Chilkur, Ranga Reddy district, the Minister criticized the previous administration for neglecting road maintenance over the last decade, resulting in widespread potholes and dilapidated roads across Telangana.

The Minister outlined the government’s plans to use advanced machinery, including the “Air Pressure Jet Patcher” and “Pothole and Road Maintenance Machinery,” to repair roads swiftly and effectively. Komatireddy, alongside Special Chief Secretary of Roads & Buildings (R&B) Vikas Raj and Special Secretary Dasari Harichandana, personally examined the new machinery and demonstrated its capabilities to the media.

According to Komatireddy, traditional methods of road repair are time-consuming and often lead to recurring damage. The new machinery, he explained, works by mixing 6mm to 25mm stone material with dust to seamlessly fill potholes. This process ensures smoother roads, reduces vehicle wear and tear, and minimizes the need for frequent repairs. The goal is to repair up to 20 kilometers of road per day, significantly improving the road network’s quality across the state.

“This new mechanized method will not only make our roads smoother and safer, but it will also address the issue of recurring road damage caused by traditional repair methods that take months,” Komatireddy said. The Minister also emphasized the environmental benefits of the new machinery, which reduces carbon emissions by 90% compared to conventional methods, while allowing for quick repairs on busy roads, thereby lowering the risk of accidents.

Komatireddy expressed frustration over the state of the roads left by the previous administration, noting that despite accumulating a debt of Rs 7 lakh crore under the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), critical infrastructure issues like road maintenance were not addressed. “The negligence of the previous administration has left us with dilapidated roads across every town. But under my leadership, we will ensure no pothole is left unaddressed,” he vowed.

The Minister’s comments were part of the broader vision to improve living standards across Telangana, with a strategic plan to enhance road infrastructure statewide. He reiterated his commitment to transforming the state’s roads into safer, smoother, and more durable thoroughfares.

The event was attended by several senior R&B officials, local leaders, and Government Chief Whip Mahender Reddy, along with local MLA Kale Yadayya. The launch of this initiative marks a crucial step toward addressing Telangana’s road infrastructure issues and underscores the government’s focus on improving public services and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
