Telangana’s Sheep Distribution Scheme Enters Second Phase: Celebrations and Initiatives for Telangana State Formation Day

The second phase of Telangana’s Sheep Distribution Scheme will begin on June 9 as part of the 21-day Telangana State Formation Day celebrations. The programme will be launched in Nakrekal, Nalgonda district, by Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, with other ministers and elected representatives distributing sheep units in their respective districts and constituencies.

In the first phase, 3.93 lakh sheep units were delivered to Golla Kuruma community members who qualified. Around 3.5 lakh families are projected to benefit from the second phase. The Minister emphasised the importance of openness and urged officials to make the necessary arrangements for the beneficiaries, such as providing medicines, fodder, insurance tags, and assuring their participation in the purchase of sheep units.
In addition, as part of the decennial celebrations, the Fisheries department will host a fish cuisine festival in all district offices from June 8 to 10, showcasing a variety of fish dishes produced by professional female fisherman. Dairy farmers and fisherman will also take part in the Rythu Dinotsavam celebrations, and events will be planned to explain the distribution of fish and prawns in reservoirs and tanks. Planting seedlings at veterinary facilities as part of the Haritha Haram programme was also emphasised.
