Tension rises after a police officer hits a woman with a stick in Saifabad

According to the latest reports, tension prevailed in Saifabad after a police officer allegedly hit a woman with a stick while attempting to disperse a crowd following an accident.

Tensions rose at Saifabad police station as a large crowd protested against the alleged inspector’s high-handedness for lathi charging a woman in an attempt to defuse a heated argument after an accident.

Mohammed Rizwan Ali, a resident of Bowenpally, was travelling with his family in an I-20 vehicle in the early hours of Saturday when a private bus attempted to overtake him as he approached the Khairatabad metro station.

Passengers on the bus gave their support to the bus driver during a confrontation between the two, even as he misbehaved with members of Rizwan’s family who were travelling alongside him.

The public gathered at the scene as a team of police officers from the Saifabad police station arrived and attempted to settle the tension. As he attempted to disperse the group, Y Suraj Kumar, a sub-inspector on duty, allegedly resorted to lathi-charge and hit a woman with a baton.

Action to be taken against the Sub Inspector

After seeing the unwarranted action for the sub-inspector, a big crowd gathered in front of Saifabad station and demanded strict action to be taken against the SI.

“Both the passengers and the bus driver attacked Bowenpally car driver Rizwan.  A case will be booked against every one of them,”  said Additional DCP West Zone, Mohammed Iqbal Siddiqui.
