The division of assets between AP and Telangana not completed: Centre

The asset division between the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was still incomplete. Certain issues required mutual agreement between the two states, which can be resolved through discussions and mutual consultations with the cooperation of the state governments, Nityanand Rai, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, stated on Wednesday.

He also said that efforts were being made to reach an agreement between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to resolve bilateral issues amicably. In response to a question from BJP member GVL Narasimha Rao, he stated that the asset division between sibling states has not yet been completed.

From time to time, representations have been received from the government of Andhra Pradesh regarding the division of assets with Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.Some issues between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana require mutual agreement. Efforts are being made to build consensus between the two countries in order to resolve bilateral issues amicably,he explained.

The Ministry of Home Affairs meets with both state governments on a regular basis to work out bilateral issues amicably.” There have been 26 such review meetings so far. The government believes that the issues can be resolved through discussions and mutual consultations with the cooperation of both state governments,he added.
