Privilege motion moved against PM Modi; TRS MP’s stage walkout from Rajya Sabha

As per the latest reports, the TRS on Thursday moved a privilege motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his statement in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday during the Presidential Address

KCR led ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi party, moved a privilege motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday in relation to his remarks made about the method used to divide the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and create Telangana State.

In a notice to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, party Secretary General K Keshava Rao asserted that the statement attempts to portray the Parliament Houses in the worst and contemptuous light, denigrating, demeaning the procedures and proceedings of the House and its functioning. It is akin to criticizing members of Parliament and Presiding Officers for their conduct in the House.

Even the Presiding Officer’s decision to close the House doors to prevent the spread of disorder or mischief by a few members is called into question.

The Prime Minister openly questioned the procedures followed by the Presiding Officers and House management during the Bill’s passage in Lok Sabha on February 20, 2014, and the following day in Rajya Sabha, he added.

Needless to say, the August Houses operate under the authority and guidance of the Presiding Officer, whose word is always final. Finding fault on either count is a breach of the House, raising the issue of its privilege.

In this case, the Prime Minister attempted to find fault with such conduct of the Presiding Officer and damned them as unruly, he further said.
