Despite criticism from other parties, Telangana’s Dharani portal has been a spectacular success. Over the previous nine years, the portal has permitted over 22 lakh registrations and greatly raised revenue from registrations since its introduction in November 2020.
The State government has successfully streamlined land ownership and transfer processes by providing a user-friendly interface and developing robust backend infrastructure. This has resulted in an increase in registrations and a significant boost in revenue. The Stamps and Registrations department’s revenue has increased from Rs 2,175 crore in 2014-15 to an astonishing Rs 14,291 crore in fiscal year 2022-23.
The Dharani portal’s success can be linked to the eradication of fraudulent practises, reduction in paperwork, and transparency of operations. Landowners and buyers have established trust in the system, resulting in widespread acceptance and ongoing expansion. The platform has emerged as a game changer in the real estate business, revolutionising Telangana property registration.
