Three vehicles damaged as fire broke out in Shamshabad police station

On Thursday afternoon, a minor fire broke out in the parking lot of the Shamshabad police station. Though no one was hurt, three vehicles were damaged in the incident.

Though the cause of the fire is unknown, it is believed to have started from a bike and then spread to the other motorcycles and scooters parked nearby one after the other. When the fire was discovered, the police station staff and visitors hurried to put it out.

According to authorities, the fire was caused by a short circuit in one of the vehicles’ battery or a rise in temperature.

Airport electric bus caught on fire while charging

On 22 February, a zero-emission airport electric bus known as the ‘TSRTC Pushpak’ caught fire after developing a problem while parked at the Cantonment bus depot for charging.

There were no injuries due to the incident.

According to officials, the fire started about 2.05 p.m. as it was parked in the charging bay within the depot. Even though two fire tenders from Disaster Response & Flames Services continued to combat plumes of fire and smoke for about half an hour, the 12-metre-long air-conditioned bus quickly transformed to charred remains.

The bus was under a hire-service agreement, according to Telangana State Road Transport Corporation officials. TSRTC did not own the electric bus, which costs around 2 crores, but only managed it. An external agency is also investigating the incident’s cause and conducting further investigations.

Although it has been speculated that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the electric distribution box, officials have stated that a committee of officials from Olectra Greentech Limited, the bus manufacturer, has already visited the area and begun an inquiry.
