TPCC Opposes TSSPDCL Proposals for FY-2022-23

Congress party today opposed the proposals of TSSPDCL to increase power charges from the upcoming fiscal 2022-23.

TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy took part in the open hearing conducted Telangana State Electricty Regulatory Council ( TSERC) at the FAPCII auditorium in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Revanth said that the Congress party was opposing the proposal of the company to increase the power tariff. He urged the ERC to regulate the two power distribution companies. He told the council that there was a debt of ₹11000 crores on the two companies in the year 2014-15 and added that the central government had shared the debt burden of the discoms bringing it down to ₹2000 crore.

Stating that the total debt burden of the discoms reached ₹60,000 crores now, he claimed that they had turned bankrupt. He alleged that the discoms had failed to recover dues from the state government. Stating that the state government is providing ₹16000 crores as subsidy to different power consumers, he alleged that it was only paying ₹5652 crores to the discoms every year while evading the payment of the remaining subsidy Amount.
