TRS calls out BJP, challenges for an open debate on development

TRS challenged the BJP to debate development in ‘double engine’ States ruled by it versus Telangana in Delhi.

On Sunday, Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud challenged Union Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey to participate in the debate rather than making baseless statements about the TRS government.

On Monday, Srinivas Goud told media persons at Telangana Bhavan that the Union Minister lacked basic knowledge of the conditions in the State and the progress made by the TRS government over the last eight years.

In Telangana, he said, the BJP cannot escape by making mere allegations and must prove its commitment to the people.

Mahendra Nath Pandey visited the district for two days. He chose to engage in mudslinging rather than explain the Centre’s contribution to the state. He must explain what happened to the promises made to the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district, including Sainik School at Narayanpet, he said.

Further, he questioned the Centre’s delay in approving Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. Among the speakers were MLA Anjaiah Yadav, MLC Kasireddy Narayana Reddy, and others.

TRS challenges BJP to introduce Dalit Bandhu-like program

To uplift Dalit communities across the country, TRS has demanded that the Central Government implement a scheme similar to Dalit Bandhu, currently being implemented in Telangana.

Koppula Eshwar, Minister for SC Development, and legislators M Anand, K Chander, and L Ramana said on Sunday that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was the sole leader in the country who was doing justice for Dalits.

The Dalit Bandhu scheme has already benefited 32,000 families with a total of 3,249 crores in financial assistance for strengthening their livelihoods and ensuring that they engage in economic activities of their preference.

They mocked those spreading misinformation about the Dalit Bandhu scheme, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was behind the debate against freebies, including Dalit Bandhu. They advised the BJP to include a similar scheme in its manifesto for the next elections if it cared about Dalits and to implement it across the country.
