TRS leaders take aim at BJP after the party’s self-goal video goes viral

It seems that the State BJP scored a self-goal on Tuesday when it retweeted a video of former MLA NVSS Prabhakar encouraging women to vote for ‘lotus’ and asking them whether they had been given Rs.3,000 each.

In a video shared on Twitter by the former MLA, he interacts with a few women farm laborers heading to cotton fields. The video shows the former MLA asking the women to vote for the ‘lotus’ symbol and if they were given Rs.3000 in the morning.

One of the women replies negatively and says initially it was Rs.10,000, Rs.12,000, Rs.20,000, and even one tola gold, but now it had come down to Rs.3,000. Following the interaction, the former MLA takes a picture with the women.

As a result of the video becoming viral on social media, TRS leaders aimed their guns at the BJP’s corrupt practices in influencing voters.

“Interesting Discussion: Ex BJP MLA asks Women to Vote for Lotus and if they received Rs.3000 this morning for which they say they were expecting the promised 1 Tula Gold, Rs.10000 per Vote ….BJP Self Goal” TSMDC Chairman Manne Krishank tweeted.

Munugode bypoll

The stakes couldn’t be higher for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the Congress and the BJP in the Munugode bypoll.  The three parties have gone all out in their bid to win, with promises to woo voters running alongside allegations and counter-allegations by the three parties.

The outcome of the bypoll, which is seen as a forerunner to the 2023 assembly elections, will be announced on November 6. The bypoll was called after Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy left the Congress and also as MLA in August to join the BJP.

The BJP sees the bypoll as a starting point to capturing the south. TRS, on the other hand, believes that a positive outcome here will propel the party to power for the third time in 2023.

Congress desperately needs to win here because it holds the seat and sees a positive outcome as essential for a recovery in the state.
