TSBIE serves notice to Sri Chaitanya Junior College over student’s suicide

On Thursday, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS BIE) served a notice to the management of Sri Chaitanya Junior College seeking an explanation for the student suicide that occurred on the college premises. The board has already notified the college administration, demanding the specifics of the incident, according to TSBIE authorities. The student was verbally and physically harassed by college staff members, according to the board’s initial findings.

The senior TSBIE officer informed the college administration that it was required to react to the notice regarding the occurrence within the allotted time. Based on the explanation, an action may be taken, such as disaffiliation or shutting down the college. An investigation is currently being conducted into the staff members by the police, who have already filed criminal charges against them.

Student commits suicide in college classroom

A 16-year-old student of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (MPC) at the Sri Chaitanya Junior College in Hyderabad’s Narsingi committed suicide late on Tuesday, February 28. The deceased, Nagula Sathwik, was a first-year student who allegedly endured physical abuse and harassment from teachers and the hostel warden. The incident triggered protests by students of the National Students’ Union of India, who blocked the Narsingi main road.

A Sri Chaitanya student told the media that his friend Sathwik committed suicide in the class as a result of the pressure to earn better grades. “He was subjected to physical abuse for this. As a result, he went into depression and isolated himself from others. The reason for his death is the pressure from the college,” he added.
