Two Ganja Smugglers Arrested in Hyderabad

Hyderabad Police arrested two individuals at the New Malakpet market in the early hours of Saturday attempting to conceal dry ganja leaves under leaf dining plates (vistarakulu).

During a joint operation, Special Zonal Crime Team (West Zone), Chaderghat police, and CCS intercepted a Mahindra Bolero near Metro pillar 1460 and found three white polythene bags covered by leafy dining plates.

After questioning the two individuals in the vehicle, they revealed they had procured dry ganja leaves from Chintapalli forest and were bringing it to Hyderabad for sale. In addition to the three bags containing 30 packets, each containing 2.20 kilograms, wrapped in brown packing tape to conceal ganja leaves, the suspects were taken into custody.

According to Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, Joint Commissioner of Police, CS, DD, the accused were Muvvala Nagarjuna, a leaf seller, and Nammi Tataji, an employee of a transportation company, both of whom resided in Anakapally, a neighboring state in Andhra Pradesh.

Man arrested for raping a minor girl at knifepoint in Hyderabad

A man was arrested on Monday by Banjara Hills police on charges of threatening and raping a minor girl at knifepoint in June.

A construction worker named Rashid (30) was arrested, who was a distant relative of the victim and also lived in the same neighborhood. In the case of the 14-year-old victim, she was living with her mother, stepfather, and two siblings.

During a conversation with her mother, the girl’s mother found her looking depressed for some time and questioned her. The girl broke down to her mother after she was pressed further and shared the incident of rape by the accused.

Police report that the accused, who was their neighbor, was aware of the victim’s parents’ work hours and when they were at home alone. It was on June 2 when he entered her house and attempted to approach her sexually. Her resistance led to him threatening her with a knife and raping her.

Moreover, he threatened to keep the incident a secret. Banjara Hills police filed a case against Rashid following a complaint from the victim’s family.
