Udaipur beheading incident prompts Hyderabad police to be on alert

As a result of the alleged beheading incident in Udaipur, Rajasthan, the Hyderabad police have been put on alert. According to the police, the victim was beheaded for supporting former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on social media.

Following the incident, Hyderabad police officials are closely monitoring the situation.

Following the incident there, police have posted pickets at all sensitive locations. A number of senior police officers remained at their offices throughout the night to keep an eye on the situation. The city is peaceful, these are only precautionary measures,” said a senior police officer.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had asked all the States’ police to be vigilant due to the possibility that some elements could use the incident to ignite communal violence. Higher-ups of the police reviewed the security of a few leaders as well.

Telangana police are also on alert following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on July 2 and 3. At Parade Grounds, he will address a rally.

On Wednesday, TRS working president and Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) condemned a barbaric murder in Udaipur of a tailor and called for strict punishment.

On Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said brutality in the name of religion should not be tolerated.

In Hindi, he appealed to maintain peace, saying, “We must all fight hate together. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace and brotherhood.”

It was also condemned by former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, who stated that no religion approves of such a crime.

“The killing of Udaipur is most heinous and regrettable regardless of the provocation assumed. We should not allow our nation to be torn apart in this inhuman manner. No religion approves of killing human beings. Let us reaffirm positivity of faith,” Khurshid said.
