Ulema warns Muslims against misconception about “Sacred Sacrifice”

After issuing fatwa regarding “Sacrifice” ahead of Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, all the Ulema of the city irrespective of their school of thought feels that the community took the message wrong and what they want to convey is not actually the same the Muslims are assuming at the movement.

Disapproving the trend of offering amount of animals to charity instead of waiting till the last day to perform the sacred rite, the General Secretary All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Moulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said, “No other deed comparatively holds prominence than the sacrifice of an animal itself before the Almighty Allah (SWT) during Eid-ul-Adha. For people, who are eligible to perform the sacrifice, it is a must for them to perform the rite unless all the means to perform the same ceases. One can go for expiation only in the case when the time to perform the rite elapsed. Only then it is advised to go for Sadaqah (Charity) finding the time of Qurbani is wearing on,” said Moulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani.

“The fatwa clearly says that no deed is worth adorable to God than the performing of sacrifice during Eid-ul-Adha. According to Islamic shariah, ‘sacrifice’ is obligatory for every well off Muslims. Only in a situation wherein all the means to get the animal’s sacrifice were ceased, the virtues deed could be performed by offering the amount to deserved near and dears, poor or to madrasas were in the children are pursuing religious studies,” explained Mufti Omer Abubakar Al-Mallahi Al-Hussaini, Vice President, Majma-Ul Imam as-shafai Al-Aalami.

However, he said, people took the message wrong and are trying to offer the number of animals in charity instead of trying till the last minute to perform the sacrifice of an animal, a rite which is most virtues deed to attain blessings of the Almighty during this time. “It would be better for the Muslims to try their best till the last day to perform sacrifice the animals which is most adorable deeds of all before the almighty Allah (SWT),” asserted Mufti Omer Mallahi.

“People should try till the last day to perform a sacrifice. Only in the wake of closure of all the doors they could able to distribute the amount of animals to the neediest,” said, Moulana Adul Rehman Qasmi

“Actually it is not the fatwa that has created the misconception among Muslims. People are waiting for this opportunity since a long to avoid sacrificing animals at least for one or two years owing to exorbitant rates of the animals and the exploitation by the traders and the butchers on the Eid day every year,” said Syed Shoukat Ali, a civil right activist.
