Unsuccessful BJP ticket seekers revolt

Hyderabad: The BJP on Friday released second list of party candidates for 28 assembly constituencies of the State. However, the announcement of the party candidates by the party leadership has caused widespread anger among those ticket hopefuls, who were denied the tickets by the party leadership.

The allocation of the party ticket for Sherlingampally Assembly constituency to one Yoganand has angered party official spokesperson Naresh and his supporters and prompted him to stage a dharna before State party headquarters in Nampally. The supporters of Naresh raised slogans against party’s national president Amit Shah and State party president Dr Laxman for denying ticket to their leader.

Addressing his supporters, Naresh said the party leadership had cheated him by promising ticket. “They asked me to launch my election campaign while promising that I would get the ticket. I have spent several lakh rupees and launched the election campaign by believing their words. However, they have now cheated me because I am a BC,” he said with tears in his eyes.

The allocation of the party ticket of Nizamabad urban seat to former MLA Y Laxminarayana also caused uproar among the followers of Ticket hopeful from the same seat Suryanarayana Gupta. Enraged at the decision of the party, his followers ransacked the furniture in the State party office. They also demanded that the party leadership allocate the ticket to their leader. (NSS)
