UP bride dies during wedding rituals, medical facility denied admission before death

Bhagwatpurwa/UP: The most memorable day for a to-be-wed groom turned into a nightmare come true when his bride died before the completion of the wedding rituals.

In a rather terrible incident, a bride in Uttar Pradesh passed away before she got married. The groom had to go back to his home with the pain of his bride’s demise instead of her living self.

The tragic event occurred in the Bhagatpurwa village of UP which falls under the Thathia police circle in Kannauj.

The clan of the groom, Sanjay had reached the wedding place on Friday. The rituals started off on the same night.

Midway into the cultural rituals for the wedding, Vinita, the bride, halted them and complained of uneasiness and discomfort. She soon collapsed.

This resulted in a hullabaloo, following which the 19 year old bride’s parents immediately took her to a health centre. They refused admitting the bride as they thought she was infected with the coronavirus. The medical facility denied her entry without a negative test result for the disease.

Upon this, Vinita’s father, Kishore Batham, rushed her to Kanpur to get her admitted in a hospital. Unfortunately, by the time they reached the city, her condition had worsened and she died.

After she passed away, the family members called the police to inform them of the incident on the emergency number 112. The body of the bride has been taken for post mortem to ascertain the cause of her death. Further investigations are underway.

Police officials said that after receiving the results from the autopsy, they will be springing into action if required by the reports.

“We will take action, if needed, after the post-mortem report comes,” said the Kannauj police spokesman.

On Saturday, the family of the deceased bride performed the final rites for her in the evening while the wedding procession along with the groom returned home with dismay, empty-handed without the bride.

While people are trying to slowly get back to normalise their lives amid the pandemic, such incidents snatch their morale. While reports haven’t been received to regard this as a coronavirus caused death, it’s probability cannot be ruled out as the deadly virus has claimed thousands of young lives till now.

All we can do in these terrible times is to remain positive yet vigilant.
