Meenakshi is preparing to contest elections from Chorawala. It is a reserved SC seat with approximately 7,000 voters. Reports suggest that she has been selling tea from the past three years to help her family financially. She was provided with a tea stall under the National Rural Livelihood Mission Scheme.

Talking to the sources, Meenakshi said she is inspired by the journey of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said if he can become the PM after selling tea, then why can’t her “a chaiwali” become a village head too?

She is contesting elections as an independent candidate. She also said that she doesn’t really have the support from any political parties. But the people of her village strongly support her.

Gyan Singh, Meenakshi’s husband also spoke to the sources. He said that in 2015, the villagers chose her as a Gram Panchayat member. They now encourage her to go further. They gave her the example of Narendra Modi’s story to contest for the village head’s post.
Meenakshi has promised to bring development for her village and is confident that she will win.

PM Narendra Modi’s Journey From Chaiwala To Prime Minister

As Meenakshi continues to grow, her life story is somewhat similar to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr Modi was born on September 17, 1950. He is the first Prime Minister to be born post Independence in 1947. He came from a humble background and belonged to the marginalized section of the society. His family was into the grocery business and struggled to make the ends meet. They lived in a single storey house in Vadnagar, Gujarat.

Modi’s love for India started during the early stages of his life. He served as a volunteer to the Indian Army at the railway stations during the Indo-Pak war of 1965. And helped the flood victims in Gujarat in 1967.

His father was a tea seller and Modi also helped him. He was also influenced by the life of Swami Vivekananda and wanted to start his journey into spiritualism. At the age of 17, he left his home to travel across India and experienced the different cultures within the country. When he came back after two years, he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. In 1987, he started to work as the General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat.

With an expansive political career filled with ups and downs, he became the Prime Minister of India in 2014 and won with a massive majority in 2019 as well.
