Fishin’ Company, a US-based aquaculture company, has announced an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in Telangana to build a fully integrated freshwater fish culture ecosystem that will include hatcheries, feed manufacture, cage culture, processing, and exports.
According to a statement from the Minister’s office, the project, which will be located in the Mid Manair Reservoir in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district, will be the world’s largest freshwater aquaculture project.
Manish Kumar, the company’s Chairman and CEO, made the announcement following a meeting with Industries Minister KT Rama Rao in San Jose on Thursday.
The project will use cage culture to produce 85,000 MTs of Tilapia fish every year. It will also provide direct work for 3,000 people and indirect employment for another 2,000 people.
“This will be the world’s largest freshwater aquaculture project,” said Manish Kumar, the son of Padma Bhushan awardee Siva K. Kumar.

Minister KT Rama Rao expressed gratitude to the Fishin’ team for selecting Telangana as their investment destination. He told the company that the state government will provide full assistance.
The Industries Minister requested the Fishin’ company to give preference to local fishermen and Mid Manair Project displaced households when hiring.
The meeting was also attended by Industries Department Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Director – Food Processing Akhil.
Fishin’ Company is the world’s largest importer of Tilapia variety of fish, as well as the largest importer of frozen food into the United States.
Along with this, Qualcomm announced the establishment of its second-largest campus in Hyderabad, with a Rs 3,904.55 crore five-year investment. The campus is currently being built, and the facility will be able to operate by October of this year.
The software and semiconductor company told KT Rama Rao, who is now in the United States, that this plant will employ roughly 8700 people.

The software company will join a long list of organisations that have established their largest campuses outside of the United States in Hyderabad.
