Amidst the vaccine shortage across the world, the United States of America has started clinical trials to understand the “vaccine mix”. Under this people who have been fully vaccinated receive booster doses from a different Covid 19 vaccine.
The US Begins Vaccine Mix Trials On Fully Vaccinated People
As per the latest reports, the US researchers will include about 150 people who have received both the doses of the Covid 19 vaccine with one of three approved Covid 19 vaccines. The approved vaccines include Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer vaccines.

The aim of the trial is to determine the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccines if a different vaccine given as the booster dose. The US National Institutes of Health (NIH) reported. At the same time, each vaccine group will include 25 people aged from 18 to 55 years. And another group of 25 people will include the age range above 56 years of age.
Under this trial, after 12 to 20 weeks of getting fully vaccinated, the participants will receive a single booster dose of the Moderna Covid 19 vaccine.
People With No Vaccination Are Also Eligible For The Trial
Within this trial, people who haven’t received any vaccination at all are also eligible for the same. These volunteers will first receive the Covid 19 vaccines as per the standard procedure. And then will be assigned to receive a booster dose after 12-20 weeks.
As part of the trial, the investigations will evaluate the participants for safety and if any side effects have occurred post the booster dose. The investigators will also ask the participants to provide their blood samples periodically so they can check the immune responses against the Covid virus and its variants.
Initial trial results are expected in late summer this year.
Reports suggest that 41.5% of US citizens have already been fully vaccinated.
