Vaastu-Compliant Secretariat Faces Electoral Uncertainties Despite Demolition of Old Complex

Exit polls have raised concerns about the recently inaugurated Vaastu-compliant Secretariat in Telangana. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had razed the old Secretariat, attributing negative energies and ill fortune to the previous Chief Ministers. However, with exit polls predicting a substantial victory for the Congress, it appears that the purported negative energies may persist in the new Secretariat.

Despite the Chief Minister avoiding the old Secretariat due to alleged ‘Vaastu dosha,’ the Congress has pledged to open the doors of the Secretariat to all once in power. KCR’s decision to opt for a Vaastu-compliant new Secretariat was ostensibly aimed at ensuring a harmonious government. However, the election results seem to contradict the anticipated smooth governance.

The new Secretariat, constructed at a cost of Rs 617 crore, has a layout designed to accommodate all ministers’ offices, respective departments, and the offices of secretaries and Heads of Departments on the same floor or in the same building, effective May 1, 2023. The prevailing belief is that no Chief Minister operating from the old Secretariat completed a full term, except for YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Others either faced mid-term dismissals or opted for fresh elections after dissolving the Assembly. Unfortunately, YSR met a tragic end in a helicopter crash less than four months into his second term in 2009.

The new Secretariat’s entrance from the Tank Bund side faces south and is considered non-Vaastu-compliant. Additionally, concerns were raised about the orientation of C-block, which ideally should face north or east. The government’s effort to align with Vaastu principles in the new construction may not have shielded it from the uncertainties of electoral outcomes.
