Vaccination begins in Rangareddy as people rush to get second doze

Amid the reports of a significant decline of covid-19 cases in Rangareddy district these days, the vaccination program rolled on by the district administration throughout the district in order to provide succor to thousands of people who have completed their first shot a few weeks ago and are eagerly waiting to go for the second.

Only the Rajendranagar division carries a total ten centers where the vaccination program has taken up again on 25th May. People who got their first short of covaxine a few weeks earlier are approaching the centers to get their second doze.

There are total ten centers in Rajendranagar division where the vaccination program is being taken up that include Shamshabad and Rajendranagar Community Health Centers along with Pedda Shahpur PHC, Narkhuda PHC, Mailardevpally PHC, Shivrampally PHC, Narsingi PHC, Serilingampally PHC and Hafeezpet PHC besides Kondapur area hospital.

According to officials, together these centers have administered nearly 842 doses of covaxcine on 25th May in Rajendranagar division. As restriction isn’t a barrier for taking vaccines at different centers in the city and suburban areas provided the person carries a necessary document to prove it, the people from different areas – and some are even from other districts, are reaching the vaccination centers to clear off the remaining shot.

“At every center 200 shots are being given per day in Rajendranagar Division. Only on Tuesday, the first day of vaccination, a total number of 842 people have taken the second short while nearly four thousand people are still to get the shots. However, only the second dose of covaxin is being administered here as for many people, the cutoff date of 4-6 six weeks of time interval between two doses is near to an end while for covishield there is still enough time left to complete the 85 days of duration. The shots are being given from morning 9.00 am to 4.00 pm,” informed Dr.Srujana, Deputy District Medical and Health Officer, Rangareddy District.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Education Sabitha Indira Reddy has conducted a review meeting on covid-19 situation in Rangareddy District and expressed her happiness over the decreasing number of cases in the district. The minister instructed the officials to take appropriate measures to vaccinate super spiders as per the guidelines set by the government.

“Fever survey taken up by the government is yielding good results. However, the officials should continue to monitor the covid-19 situation besides enforcing the lockdown in the district to arrest the spread of contagion. Moreover, measures should be taken to ensure availability of medicines essential in treating black fungus,” she said.

Officials should take serious note of excessive billing in private hospitals charging more than what the government has prescribed, she said, adding that “Special arrangements should also be made at Kondapur Area Hospital with 120 beds for children besides setting up isolation centers at Rajendranagar and Chevella.
