VH resents collection of school fee from sportspersons in State

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao here on Wednesday alleged that school fee was being collected from sportspersons in the municipal areas in the State. He said such a practice was very shocking. He also alleged that the State government was also collecting money as taxes for each sport.

Addressing media persons at Gandhi Bhavan,  Rao said they would provide free opportunities to all sportspersons in municipal areas wherever the Congress win the elections. He asked the State government, which give crores of rupees to sportspersons like Sania Mirza and PV Sindhu, as to why it was collecting a fee from the poor sportspersons. He said the Congress had always encouraged the field of sports.

Commenting on the controversial Citizens Amendment Act, Hanumanth Rao alleged that the Telangana State police were not allowing them to hold protests against the Act. Stating that the AIMIM party was permitted to hold a public meeting on the issue, VH said the police should also permit them to hold the meeting. On the recent Million March in the city, Rao alleged that the police had booked cases against those who held agitation in a peaceful manner bringing disrepute to the Telangana police.
