Vizag man duped of Rs 70 lakh on bogus lottery

Hyderabad: The police authorities are time and again cautioning the people against frauds being perpetrated by unscrupulous elements in the name of lottery, prize money, marriage alliance, gift from a friend, and several other means. The media also has been highlighting how not only innocent people, but also highly educated ones, are becoming victims of cheats in different ways.

In spite of all these, it’s a matter of great irony that people are becoming a prey to the wicked games of the fraudsters, who are out to make easy money by hook or crook. The latest incidence reported from Visakhapatnam in the media today, wherein a person was deprived of his hard-earned money to the extent of Rs 70 lakh,  as he responded to a message which said he has won 2,500 crore in Indian  Currency in a lottery and he has to pay some money to get the amount.

The victim had paid Rs 70 lakh in installments on different counts, and then only he realized the fact that he was duped. Incidents of this nature clearly indicate that people are not using their brains, in spite of repeated warnings, and also that they have lost belief in good old adages such as “Duraasha Dhukkaaniki Chetu’ (greed begets grief). Now, this person, who lost huge amount, has approached the police for recovering the amount. How far the police will succeed in their efforts and whether  the victim will get back the amount is to be seen. People should be aware about such frauds. (NSS)
