Wakf champions raise red flag as another mosque lurked by land sharks

Raising a red flag yet again to draw the attention of Muslims towards another desolated Qutub Shahi mosque gradually going into oblivion at Mangloor area near Ibrahimpatnam, the team of wakf champions led by Osman Mohammed Khan and Mateen Shareef today called upon the community in general and state wakf board, in particular, to safeguard the primordial and rich Islamic heritage from extinction.

Claiming that the obsolete Qutub Shahi mosque is defaced advertently with a malafide intention, Osman Khan said, “The wakf board remained in slumber despite the fact that the beautiful triple viaduct structure was secured under the wakf gazette vide Serial No.3720 & 3721. Though we have been blowing the whistle and beating the head since 2015 to ensure the safety of the qutub shahi mosque, the wakf board found to be remiss in performing its duties.”

“Compound walls have been raised closed to the dilapidated mosque and wakf land is being gradually eaten away by vested interest despite a letter to safeguard the same structure issued in the year 2015 by the then Revenue Minister Mahmood Ali, presently serving as a Home Minister,” he asserted showing the letters to the media.

Out of the three viaduct of the desolated mosque one was completely collapsed he said, adding that, “Remaining edifice is about to vanish as a trench was dugged-up at the very site of pulpit (mimbar) using JCB machine purported to check if there was any hidden treasury lies beneath the ground while encroachments keep on continue with regular construction activities. Most appalling is that the construction activities are carrying out keeping the material under the shelter of the mosque itself.”

People should come forward to protect wakf land in the states atleast in the city and surrounding areas, he said, adding that “Handful of encroachers are plundering the prime wakf properties which could turned into a resource of revenue for the community that left to the tender mercies of government even for their basic rights,” he rued.

Mateen Shareef, another member of wakf champion team, said “We made written representations to wakf board continuously since 2016 to 2020 on the trot but the officials have no guts atleast to visit the area and stall the encroachments leave alone protect the rich qutub shahi heritage protected under wakf gazette. The present situation hinting towards a complete winding off of the wakf board as encroachments of wakf lands is going on unabashedly throughout the state brazenly offending the rule of law,” said Mateen Shareef, showing the acknowledgments of letters they submitted in Wakf Board and the old photographs to substantiate their point.

Our team of selfless people has toiled hard to secure appropriate and authentic details of the property before placing the case to corroborate our point under the framework of democracy and the law of the land. We will approach the wakf board again with more input soon,” he asserted.

Mohammed Samad, Mohammed Shabbir Khan and Khaled Shareef among others presented on the occasion.
