We will give laptops to those who don’t want Amma Vodi scheme

Nellore: The Chief Minister of the state YS Jaganmohan Reddy today released the funds for the implementation of the second phase of the Amma Vodi program, which is meant to provide financial assistance to poor parents of the State to fund the education of their children.

Speaking on the occasion he said that they would give laptops to those who don’t want the cash under the scheme from the next financial year.

He however hastened to state that the offer was only meant for the 9th standard to the 12th standard students. Stating that the cost of the one laptop is 27,000, he said that several companies had come forward to offer the same for just Rs.18,500 per piece.

The CM said that the cost of the laptops would come down further if they went for the reverse tendering process. He said that the laptops have 4 GB RAM and 400 GB of hard disk and windows 0 OS.  He said that they would hand over the laptops with a three-year warranty.
